Happy New Year!
I don’t know about you but I love the start of the new year. The holiday vacation left me rested and ready to start over with a clean slate. One of the ways I prepare to start my year off right is by picking a word that will carry me through the new year. Last year, my word was receive. As a Type A personality, I have a habit of pushing, planning, achieving, and then pushing again. I felt like I needed to let things happen and I needed to be ready to receive what was coming to me without feeling like I had to force an agenda. In addition to being more fluid, I also wanted to learn how to be okay about receiving help. While I don’t know if I learned all the lessons that came my way, I know I tried.
Finding Your Word of the Year
This year, I initially thought my word of the year was going to be discipline. I know, I know, here I am trying to lay off the Type A thing, and as soon as I’m released from a year of receiving, I want to push myself again? I believed I needed discipline to move my business forward and meet my health goals. But I wasn’t quite gelling with the word. Then one day, all of sudden, the word delight came rushing forward, volunteering to be my word of the year. There is no question in my mind, no discomfort, when I think about carrying delight around with me for the next year. I want to experience delight daily. I want to delight others everyday. If you want to watch my delightful journey, you can follow me on Instagram or follow my hashtag #lkbdelights, where I’m going to collect all my delight over the next year.
