I am so excited to unveil my new website to the world. It still has a few bugs, so please be patient with me.
I wanted to tell you a quick story about how this new branding and website project came about. It’s all due to my maternal grandparents, Jim and Laura McDermott. I’ve written about them before and my joyful summers staying at their home in Ohio. My grandfather was a plumber for a bank and my grandmother was a homemaker for most of her life (except for a short, glorious stint working at Fanny Farmer’s candy store when I was young). They worked hard and my grandfather was very careful with his money. He never bought things on credit and saved. Which meant that, after they passed away, my grandparents were able to leave my siblings and me a little inheritance. It’s doled out yearly and this year, I took a huge leap and invested in my business with it. If I’m honest, it was a hard thing to do. I felt like I should save the money. I felt like I shouldn’t waste it on taking chance to my grow my business. What if I failed? I would feel like my inheritance had been wasted. But then I thought about my grandparents. They wouldn’t have thought twice about investing in me and my dreams. And if I failed? They would be there to pick me up, to tell me how wonderful I am no matter what. They really did believe the sun rose and set over me and my siblings, so who better to invest in my business than two souls who believed in me and loved me unconditionally?
I am eternally grateful to my grandparents for enabling me to take my business to the next step. I feel like they are still loving and supporting me from the other side and I feel like this website should be dedicated to them. Thanks Grandma & Grandpa, for always believing in me, for being my biggest cheerleaders, and for always thinking that I everything I do is perfect. I miss you everyday.
