Hot cocoa isn't just for Christmas. February can be even colder than December and we all know chocolate is the official candy of love. Why not whip-up a batch of delicious hot cocoa for your Valentine? Be sure to add a red & white straw with a marshmallow and a maraschino cherry to give it a festive look.
I recently came up with a great hot cocoa mix recipe. My family is trying to eat more whole foods and less chemicals and when I read the ingredient list on the back of our instant cocoa mix, I knew I had to throw it out. This mix has fewer chemicals and tastes great. It fits in a quart mason jar and is perfect for gift giving or just keeping on the counter top for those days when you need a little liquid chocolate in your life.
Hot Cocoa Mix Recipe
- 1 packet powdered milk
- 1 cup cocoa-I use Girardelli's Sweet Ground Cocoa. You can use unsweetened cocoa, but it's not going to taste as good.
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
Mix ingredients together and keep in a jar. Mix a 1/4 cup of the mix in 1 cup of boiling hot water and stir. If you are going to give as gifts, layer the ingredients in the jar for a pretty presentation.
