I'm sure you've heard someone in your life extol the virtues of green smoothies but, if you aren't a convert yet, they can be a bit scary at first. They are green after all and I'm guessing that the thought of cold, liquefied vegetables doesn't thrill you either. Then there's the other camp of people who are drinking green smoothies but they have to plug their nose and swallow to choke down the darn thing.
I'm here to tell you it doesn't have to be like that! I have a green smoothie recipe that tastes really good and is really easy to make. I've been drinking it every morning since January 1 and I wake-up in the morning craving it. I think my body wants all that nutrition or maybe it's the fact that people are telling me my skin looks glowing and they keep asking me if I have lost weight. With compliments like that, who wouldn't crave such a potion?
Here's my green smoothie recipe:
Makes 1 smoothie
Ingredients:
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 handful spinach
- 1 banana
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Put it all into a blender and whirl it until smooth and creamy and no big pieces are floating in it. I don't put yogurt or ice cubes or frozen bananas into my smoothies because I like them to be the consistency of a thick juice rather a milk shake.
Are you a green smoothie drinker? Or any kind of a healthy smoothie addict? I'd love to get some new recipes. Share them in the comments.
